Try this powerful hypervisor
What's going on guys, welcome to this new lesson in which I wanted to share with you a super important thing concerning virtualization on Windows systems.
As you already know, as pentesters, we need a lot of power on our machines to virtualize the different operating systems and practice on different types of machines.
Many of you contacted me to ask for an alternative, especially for those who do not have enough physical resources to virtualize.
Some of you only have 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM, which is not ideal for running several virtual machines at the same time.
While preparing my new course on creating an Active Directory (AD) lab, I worked with Hyper-V, which is the native hypervisor developed by Microsoft.
Usually, I use VirtualBox or sometimes VMware.
This time, for this course, I used Hyper-V and it worked perfectly.
As you can see here, I created several virtual machines (five machines in total: two Windows Server machines, one with Windows 10, one with Windows 7 and one with Linux).
Running all these machines at the same time with VirtualBox would have been very difficult, even with a powerful machine.
I therefore recommend that you look into Hyper-V.
It is a hypervisor integrated by default on the professional versions of Windows.
Try it: it is a hypervisor that manages the sharing of physical resources (in particular the RAM) much more efficiently than VirtualBox or VMware.
